Dweeb Productions is a young San Francisco based theatre company with a mission to explore the boundaries between theatre, dance and physical performance. As part of that mission, Dweeb actively supports traditional art forms from cultures that share these same goals.

Dweeb is currently raising funds for a US tour of the tribal performance theyyam, a possession ritual from the small Indian state Kerala. Theyyam is an ancient art form in which low-caste performers don fantastic costumes and make-up and become possessed by various Gods from both tribal and Hindu Puranic traditions.

Dweeb is planning to bring performers from the town of Azikhode in north Kerala to the US in 2005/6 for a tour of major performance venues. Theyyam is virtually unknown outside India but its rare combination of performance and spirituality, mixed with a variety of death-defying feats, will appeal to audiences everywhere.
